Volunteering at Vale Wildlife Rescue.

Do you have a few hours to spare each week on a regular basis?

There are a number of ways you can help by giving up some of your free time to help us -

  • If you want to become involved in the day-to-day work within the wildlife hospital, we want to hear from you. Whether you have 2 hours or 20 hours to spare each week, you can join our team of volunteers. During the busy spring and summer months we really need people who can start at 8am as this is the start of our busiest time of day. Please bear in mind that a lot of the hands-on work involves regular cleaning out and other routine, mucky jobs – it’s not all glamour!!

  • For anyone interested in volunteering for a week or more full-time e.g. if you do not live within commuting distance but would like to come and volunteer for a week or two (or even more) we can offer temporary accommodation on-site for a small cost. We have a small, but comfortable touring caravan and we also have a room within one of the staff members chalets on-site if you don’t mind sharing with him (separate bedroom of course!!). Please enquire about availability and costs.

  • From April through to August we also need volunteers in the evenings from around 5pm until at least 9pm. We have a rota of 2 volunteers per evening plus a few people on standby to cover for anyone who is unable to come in on any evening. Please get in touch if you are interested in this – we may have some unfilled spaces on the rota.

  • We also need volunteer drivers from all areas who are willing to pick up small casualties from local areas surrounding their home & bring them to the Beckford Hospital. We are getting lots of calls from people who have found a casualty but are unable to get it to us and we do not have enough staff, vehicles or time to be able to respond to all of them.

  • If you are a keen gardener there are always jobs to keep you busy here. Weeding is the one job that nobody seems to want to do but during the spring and summer our site gets invaded by thistles, nettles etc and we simply do not have the time to cope with them.

  • Volunteers are also needed at the Charity Shop in Evesham to help with general shop sales duties. If you can spare a morning (9.30am – 1pm) or an afternoon (1pm – 4.30pm), please get in touch.

Due to insurance stipulations all volunteers must be aged at least 16 years old.
